1. Introduction

MarketUpdate.net ("we," "our," "the site") is a free financial information website operated for general audiences. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit marketupdate.net, how we use that information, and the choices you have. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

Plain summary: We do not ask you to register, log in, or provide personal information to read the site. We do use Google Analytics to understand general traffic patterns, and we serve ads via Google AdSense, which uses cookies to help show relevant ads and measure ad performance. You can opt out of personalised advertising through standard industry tools described below.

2. Information We Collect

Because the site does not require an account, most of the information we "collect" is technical and automatic, not personal data that you type in.

2.1 Information you provide directly

The only way you can send us personal information is by emailing us at the addresses listed on the Contact page. When you do, we receive your email address and whatever you write in the message, and we keep that correspondence for as long as necessary to respond and follow up.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data. Pages viewed, referrer, approximate duration of visit, and interactions with the widgets on the page.
  • Device and browser information. Browser type and version, operating system, screen size, language preferences.
  • Network information. IP address and approximate geographic location derived from it (city or region level, not precise).
  • Cookies and similar technologies. Described below and in the Cookie Policy.

2.3 Information from third parties

Our analytics and advertising partners, including Google, provide aggregated reporting about how the site is used and how ads served on the site perform. We do not receive individual-level personal data from these partners in the course of operating the site.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above for a narrow set of purposes:

  • To operate and maintain the website, including debugging technical issues.
  • To understand traffic patterns at an aggregated level — for example, which pages are most popular or how users reach the site.
  • To display relevant advertising via Google AdSense and measure its performance.
  • To respond to emails you send us.
  • To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
  • To comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your email address with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Google AdSense & Advertising

MarketUpdate.net is funded in part through advertising. We work with Google as a third-party vendor and use Google AdSense to serve display advertising on the site.

4.1 How AdSense uses cookies

  • Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on our site.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
  • Users may also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices or, in the EU, www.youronlinechoices.eu.

4.2 Other third-party advertising

From time to time we may use additional certified third-party advertising vendors, in accordance with Google's publisher policies. Any such vendors use cookies and similar technologies subject to their own privacy policies. A list of Google's certified ad technology providers is available on the Google Ad Manager help site.

4.3 Opting out

You have several ways to limit personalised advertising:

  • Google Ads Settings — turn off personalised advertising across Google services.
  • DAA WebChoices (US) — manage opt-outs for participating ad networks.
  • NAI Opt-Out Tool (US) — opt out of behaviourally targeted advertising from NAI members.
  • YourOnlineChoices (EU) — opt-out tool for participating EU ad networks.
  • Browser-level controls for third-party cookies and tracking, including the "Do Not Track" setting and tracking-prevention features.

Opting out of personalised advertising does not mean you will stop seeing ads. It means the ads you see will no longer be tailored to inferred interests.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on a small set of third parties to operate the site:

  • TradingView. All live market data, charts, heatmaps, screeners, and news timelines on the site are embedded widgets provided by TradingView. When these widgets load, TradingView may set its own cookies and collect technical information about your interaction with them. See TradingView's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns. See Google's Privacy Policy and the Google Analytics Opt-Out add-on.
  • Google AdSense. Serves display advertising as described in Section 4.
  • Google Fonts. Delivers the DM Sans typeface used on the site.

6. Cookies & Tracking

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We and our partners use them for essential site functionality, for analytics, and for advertising. The Cookie Policy describes each category in detail, including how to disable cookies in the major browsers. Disabling cookies does not prevent you from reading the site but may affect how some widgets display.

7. Data Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect any information entrusted to us, including email correspondence. However, no system is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted over the Internet.

8. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as we need it for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by law:

  • Email correspondence: typically for the duration of our relationship plus a reasonable follow-up period.
  • Server and analytics logs: generally aggregated or deleted after a limited retention window.
  • Advertising data: retained by Google and other ad partners in accordance with their own policies.

9. Rights for European (GDPR) Users

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent local law:

  • The right to access the personal data we hold about you.
  • The right to request rectification of inaccurate personal data.
  • The right to request erasure of your personal data (the "right to be forgotten").
  • The right to restrict processing of your personal data.
  • The right to object to processing of your personal data.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with your national data-protection supervisory authority.

Our legal bases for processing personal data are our legitimate interests in operating an informational website and, where applicable, your consent (for example, for non-essential cookies). To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected].

10. Rights for California (CCPA/CPRA) Residents

If you are a California resident, you have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including:

  • The right to know what categories of personal information we have collected about you.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
  • The right to limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.

We do not sell personal information in the traditional sense. Some of our advertising partners, including Google, may engage in activity that is classified as "sharing" under the CPRA. You can limit such activity using the opt-outs listed in Section 4. To exercise other CCPA/CPRA rights, email [email protected].

11. Children's Privacy

MarketUpdate.net is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact [email protected] and we will take steps to remove it.

12. International Data Transfers

The site is available globally, and information collected through the site — including data processed by Google and TradingView — may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including the United States. Where required by law, such transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. For substantial changes that affect your rights, we will display a prominent notice on the site. Your continued use of MarketUpdate.net after the update takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
