The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is the Federal Reserve body that sets the target range for the federal funds rate. Below are all scheduled FOMC meetings for 2026 and 2027 as published by the Federal Reserve Board. Meetings marked with projections are accompanied by the Summary of Economic Projections (SEP), which includes the well-known “dot plot”. The next row after today is highlighted automatically.

What happens on FOMC day

  • 2:00 p.m. ET — statement. The policy statement and implementation note are released, together with the vote. At SEP meetings the projection materials are published at the same time.
  • 2:30 p.m. ET — press conference. The Chair takes questions; markets often move more on the press conference than on the statement.
  • Three weeks later — minutes. The minutes give a fuller account of the discussion and are another scheduled market event.

Who votes

The FOMC has twelve voting members: the seven members of the Board of Governors, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and four of the other eleven Reserve Bank presidents, who serve one-year rotating terms. All presidents attend and take part in the discussion, whether or not they vote.

How markets trade an FOMC decision

Because futures markets price the probability of each outcome in advance, the decision itself is often expected. Moves come from surprises: an unexpected change, dissents, a shift in the statement’s wording, or new dots that imply a different path for rates. Treasury yields (see Bonds), the dollar (see Forex) and equities typically react within seconds of 2:00 p.m. ET.
